Once a week take a peek

A century ago, one of the greatest ever storytellers was born in Llandaff, Cardiff. To celebrate we dressed as our favourite characters from Roald Dahl books. Everyone looked fantastic!

Welcome to Allerton Primary School

Mrs TurnerWelcome. This website should give you a good idea of what our school is like as well as making communication with everyone as easy as possible. You will be able to find recent newsletters and general information about the running of the school. More importantly, you can find out about the wide range of activities and learning that the children take part in during school. We have a busy and creative curriculum which we hope to share with you via this website.

We truly hope that this tells you all you need to know. If not, please just call and ask. We are proud of our school and stand by our motto ‘Your educational journey starts here’. But don’t simply take our word for it – come and see for yourself. We would be delighted to show you around

Many thanks

Amanda Turner, Headteacher

Attendance Champions

It has been a good week for attendance but the overall winner with a whopping 98% attendance is the Tawny Owls’ class. Well done to you all!

Competition Winners

Congratulations to Macey in Year 6, Nathan in Year 6 and Dylan in Year 4 - all have been chosen by the Grimsby Telegraph advertisers for the fantastic artwork they submitted. We sent in some fabulous entries so it’s great that this has been recognised. A huge well done to our winners and thanks go out to the remaining pupils for a great effort. We are so proud of you!

Advent

Rev. Jon held an assembly all about Advent. Advent is a time for preparation.

He explained that in church on that Sunday he would be saying Happy New Year to the congregation because it was the start of the church year.

He told us that the church had an Advent candle, which had marking on, that burned everyday up until Christmas Day. In addition to this there was an Advent wreath.  The wreath (a circle) signified that there was no beginning or end to God’s love. The evergreen that the wreath was made of signified that God’s love never changes. On the wreath there stood five candles. These candles represented faith & hope, peace, joy, Mary and the centre candle represented Jesus.

We sang two of our favourite songs with Rev. Jon playing the piano.

He ended the assembly with an Advent poem.

Listen to one of our favourite Advent songs.

Children in Need 2016

The school was awash with spots of every colour on every style of clothing. Alot of our children were ready to strike a pose for Children In Need on our Allerton catwalk. It was spotastic!

The staff donated all things chocolate to be raffled. Well done to our winners.

We raised £346.79. Thank you for your generosity for both this event and our sponsored ramble. Total raised is an amazing £2329.61, we couldn't do it without you.

Food of the World

Today’s lunch was a Food of the World menu. On the menu were burgers, pizza, chilli and lots more. Under some of the chairs in the dining hall were stars which represented prizes. The star prize was a trip to the cinema for the family, for other stars there were lots of goodie bags and tubes of lovely sweets. We took selfies in hats of different countries. Take a look!
